Hallo,
I am 81 years, and am serving as an adjunct professor at both Tuebingen
and Leipzig universities, giving classroom lectures, supervising
bachelor, master, and PH.D. thesis work, and doing some original
research. I joined IBM in 1949 in Poughkeepsie, starting work on the
Sabre Airline Reservation system.
On April 7, 1963, IBM announced S/360, a total of 52 products. I was
Project manager for one of those, the IBM 7772 Audio Response Unit. Thus
I have known Amdahl, Blaauw, Brooks and Evans personally.
The original paper Amdahl, G.A. Blaauw, F.P. Brooks ; " Architecture of
the IBM System/360". IBM Journal of Research and Development, Vol. 8,
no.2 (April 1964), p. 87-101, can be downloaded from

The following book availailable from Amazon covers the mainframe switch
from bipolar to CMOS technology:
Wilhelm G. Spruth: The Design of a Microprocessor. Publisher: Springer;
1 edition (November 14, 1989), ISBN-10: 3540513957, ISBN-13: 978-3540513957
You may want to read a report I published recently:

I recently gave a talk: The future of the mainframe. You can download it

Finally, you can access my two home pages at Leipzig and Tuebingen
University at

They contain lots of material. Sorry, most of the material is in German
